Listening to these two woods separately has always fascinated me. 

Both share a common soul ,a deep purple heart.

Maluku carries purple laced with green and red tones,

while Sumbawa pairs it with yellow and incense like whispers.

For a while, I kept wondering: what if their voices met in the same still?

Some things bend the laws of logic where 1 + 1 becomes 3.

This co-distillation is one of them.

In every distillation I document everything from the choice of wood to the grinding process,because every claim deserves proof.

Purple Storm was distilled from first class wild ,true incense grade woods.

Yet artisanal distillation goes far beyond extracting oil from good wood.

Owning a katana doesn’t make you a samurai 

and cooking premium wood doesn’t make you an artisan.

Artisanal distillation means listening understanding every nuance in the wood,

and ensuring each finds its rightful voice in the final oil.

It’s knowing whether to soak the wood or not,

and if so, how, where, and with what water.

It’s about the character of the water, the flame’s rhythm,

the design of the setup , the degree of passive reflux,

the cooling water’s temperature, the curing process etc etc

a thousand tiny choices shaping the oil’s soul.

Every wood is unique.

Every distillation demands its own ritual.

Purple Storm is the fruit of such a ritual 

a 31 day dialogue between wood, fire, water, and copper.
